Overview
Verve AI Copilot requires audio permissions to hear your interviewer and provide real-time assistance. The permissions needed vary depending on whether you’re using the browser or desktop app.
Required for copilot to work - Without proper audio permissions, the copilot cannot hear the interview and will not be able to assist you.
Browser Permissions
When using Verve AI in your browser, you need to grant microphone permission so the copilot can capture audio from your meeting.
Grant Microphone Permission in Chrome
Navigate to Verve AI
Open Verve AI in Chrome and start Interview Copilot
Look for permission prompt
Chrome will show a prompt asking to “Use your microphone” - click Allow
If you missed the prompt
If you accidentally blocked it, click the lock icon or camera/microphone icon in the address bar, then select “Allow” for Microphone
Reload if needed
If the permission doesn’t take effect, reload the page
Managing Permissions in Chrome Settings
If you need to manually adjust permissions:
- Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner
- Go to Settings → Privacy and security → Site Settings
- Click Microphone
- Find
vervecopilot.com in the list and ensure it’s set to Allow
You can also access site-specific permissions by clicking the lock icon next to the URL in the address bar, then clicking “Site settings.”

Navigate to Verve AI
Open Verve AI in Edge and start Interview Copilot
Look for permission prompt
Edge will show a prompt asking to “Use your microphone” - click Allow
If you missed the prompt
If you accidentally blocked it, click the lock icon or camera/microphone icon in the address bar, then select “Allow” for Microphone
Reload if needed
If the permission doesn’t take effect, reload the page
Managing Permissions in Edge Settings
If you need to manually adjust permissions:
- Click the three-dot menu (⋯) in the top-right corner
- Go to Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Microphone
- Find
vervecopilot.com under “Allow” section
- If it’s under “Block,” click the trash icon to remove it, then reload the page to get the permission prompt again
You can quickly access permissions by clicking the lock icon in the address bar and selecting “Permissions for this site.”
Grant Microphone Permission in Opera
Navigate to Verve AI
Open Verve AI in Opera and start Interview Copilot
Look for permission prompt
Opera will show a prompt asking to “Use your microphone” - click Allow
If you missed the prompt
If you accidentally blocked it, click the lock icon or settings icon in the address bar, then adjust Microphone permissions
Reload if needed
If the permission doesn’t take effect, reload the page
Managing Permissions in Opera Settings
If you need to manually adjust permissions:
- Click the Opera menu in the top-left corner
- Go to Settings → Privacy & security → Site Settings
- Click Microphone
- Find
vervecopilot.com and ensure it’s allowed
- If blocked, remove it from the block list and reload the page
Opera’s permission interface is similar to Chrome. Click the lock icon in the address bar for quick access to site permissions.
Desktop App Permissions
The Desktop App requires system audio and microphone permissions to capture audio from your meeting application and enable voice features.
Required Permissions on macOS
The Desktop App needs two permissions:
- Microphone Access - To capture audio from your meeting
- Screen Recording Permission - macOS requires this for system audio capture
The “Screen Recording” permission on macOS is actually used for system audio capture, not for recording your screen. This is a macOS system requirement.
Grant Permissions on macOS
Launch Desktop App
Open the Verve AI Desktop App
Permission prompts will appear
macOS will show system prompts asking for Microphone and Screen Recording access
Click 'OK' or 'Allow'
Grant both permissions when prompted
Restart the app if needed
If permissions don’t take effect immediately, quit and relaunch the Desktop App
Manually Grant Permissions in System Settings
If you missed the prompts or need to change permissions:Open System Settings
Click the Apple menu () → System Settings
Navigate to Privacy & Security
Scroll down and click Privacy & Security
Enable Microphone
- Click Microphone in the left sidebar
- Find “Verve AI” in the list and enable the toggle
Enable Screen Recording
- Click Screen Recording in the left sidebar
- Find “Verve AI” in the list and enable the toggle
- This allows system audio capture
Restart the app
Quit and relaunch the Verve AI Desktop App for changes to take effect
On macOS Ventura (13.0) or later, you may need to grant permission in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording for system audio capture to work.
Required Permissions on Windows
The Desktop App needs two permissions:
- Microphone Access - To capture audio from your meeting
- System Audio Access - To capture desktop application audio
Grant Permissions on Windows
Launch Desktop App
Open the Verve AI Desktop App
Grant microphone access
If Windows shows a prompt, click Yes or Allow when asked for microphone access
System audio is usually automatic
Windows typically allows system audio capture by default for desktop apps
Manually Grant Microphone Permission in Windows Settings
If the app can’t access your microphone:Open Settings
Press Windows key + I or click Start → Settings
Navigate to Privacy
Click Privacy & security → Microphone
Enable microphone access
- Ensure “Microphone access” is On
- Ensure “Let apps access your microphone” is On
Allow Verve AI
Scroll down to find “Verve AI” in the app list and enable the toggle
Restart the app
Close and relaunch the Verve AI Desktop App
Windows 11 users: The path is Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone. Windows 10 users: Settings → Privacy → Microphone.
