# Cancel subscription
Source: https://docs.vervecopilot.com/account/cancel-subscription
Learn how to cancel your subscription by following simple steps in your account settings
At Verve AI, we want to ensure you have all the information you need when managing your subscription. If you're considering canceling or want to understand the process better, this guide will walk you through both how to cancel your subscription and what happens afterward.
## Steps to Cancel Your Subscription
We're sorry to see you go! If you've decided to cancel your subscription, follow these steps to complete the process:
### 1. Log into Your Account
Start by logging into your account on the platform.
### 2. Access the Account Management Page
Click on **Manage Account** in the top left-hand corner of the screen, just below your account name. From the account page, click the **Manage** button.
### 3. Cancel Subscription
Select the settings for your subscription and follow the prompts to confirm your cancellation. Once confirmed, your subscription will not renew at the end of the current billing cycle.
## What Happens When You Cancel?
When you cancel your subscription, your access to all features will remain active until the end of your current billing period. For example, if you cancel after 6 months on a yearly plan, you'll still have full access to the platform for the remaining 6 months. Your subscription will officially end once the full period you've paid for concludes.
## Yearly Subscription Commitment
Verve AI's yearly subscription plan is billed upfront, meaning you make a one-time payment covering the entire year. While cancellations are available at any time, refunds for unused portions of the year are not provided unless there is a technical issue caused by Verve AI. After cancellation, your access will remain active until the end of your current billing cycle. This plan is ideal for users preparing for an extended job search or hiring season.
## Refund Policy
If you choose to cancel during an active billing cycle, please note that we do not offer refunds for the unused portion of the cycle. However, your access to the platform will continue uninterrupted until the end of the current billing cycle. For more detailed information, refer to our [Refund Policy](/account/refund-policy).
## We Value Your Feedback
Before you go, we'd love to hear your thoughts on how Verve AI can improve. Please feel free to share any feedback during the cancellation process or reach out via the Help Center chat (located at the bottom-right corner of your screen).

# Product Updates
Source: https://docs.vervecopilot.com/changelog/updates
Latest updates and improvements to Verve AI Interview Copilot
### New Model Picker and Latest Models
* **Model picker** — choosing a model now opens a table that shows how smart each model is and how quickly it starts answering.
* **Latest models** — GPT-6 Luna, GPT-6 Sol, GPT-6.1 Sol, Claude Haiku 5.5, Claude Sonnet 5.5, Gemini 3.8 Flash, Gemini 3.7 Flash, DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, GLM-5.3 and MiniMax M3 replace the previous generation.
* **Faster starts** — most models now begin answering sooner.
* **Saved models** — if the model you saved is no longer offered, you're moved to Auto Select until you pick a new one.
### Interview Copilot Improvements
* **Faster GPT-6 Luna** — answers start sooner.
* **Audio notice** — you're told when the interviewer hasn't been heard for four minutes.
* **Unreadable screenshots** — you're asked to retake one instead of getting a confused answer.
* **Key terms** — terms you add in Copilot settings now improve transcription (Pro).
### Three Response Modes: Manual, Auto, and Smart Listening
The button at the top of your answers now opens a menu with three modes: Manual answers only when you ask, Auto answers every line, and Smart Listening waits for the interviewer to finish and skips anything that isn't a question. Switch between them at any time during an interview, and choose the one every session starts in under **Settings → Layout**. [Learn how Smart Listening works](/features/smart-listening).
### See Your Total Before You Pay with WeChat Pay
When you choose WeChat Pay, you now see the full amount before checkout, along with how it is worked out and a note that it is a one-time payment that does not renew. You can switch between monthly, quarterly, and yearly on the same screen.
### WeChat Pay from the Upgrade Prompt
The choice between card and WeChat Pay now also appears when you upgrade from the prompt inside Interview Copilot or a mock interview, not only from the pricing and account pages.
### Faster Checkout on Phones
Checkout on a phone now puts Apple Pay and Google Pay first, so you can pay without typing card details. Paying by card and entering a discount code still work as before.
### Desktop 2.3.10 Release
* **Mac startup fix** — fixed a crash that could happen when opening the app on macOS.
* **PowerChip resizing** — the resize handles on the floating chip now keep working for the whole session.
### Job Agent (Beta): A Chat Assistant for Your Job Search
Job Agent searches live job postings, weighs each one against your resume, and shows the jobs worth applying to as cards with a match score. Save, mark as applied, or dismiss a job and it remembers why, so later searches don't bring it back. Free accounts get 10 messages a week. Open it from **Job Agent** in the sidebar. [Learn how it works](/features/job-agent).
### Job Agent Answers Questions About Verve AI
Ask Job Agent how a feature works and it answers from the help center, with a link to the article. For anything that needs a person, such as a charge or a bug, it drafts a message and opens the support chat with it filled in. Nothing is sent until you send it.
### More Local Results in Job Agent
Searches now return more postings in the city or country you asked for, including outside the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada.
### Smart Listening Is Now Available to Everyone
Smart Listening is now available on every account. It's still in beta and stays off until you turn it on. You'll get a one-time invitation on the copilot launch page, or you can switch it on anytime in Copilot settings → **Transcription**. The most recent line it skipped now shows its **Answer** button without hovering. [Learn how it works](/features/smart-listening).
### Smart Listening (Beta): Wait for the Interviewer to Finish
Interview Copilot can now wait until the interviewer has finished before it answers. A question that gets cut in half is held until the rest arrives, then answered once as a whole. Small talk and "mm-hmm" are skipped, and you can still answer a skipped line with one click. Turn it on in Copilot settings → **Transcription**. Smart Listening is rolling out gradually, in Interview Copilot and phone interviews. [Learn how it works](/features/smart-listening).
### Share a Window or Your Whole Screen, Not Just a Tab
You can now share a window or your entire screen to capture interviewer audio, as long as you turn on **Share system audio** in the share dialog. Previously only a browser tab was accepted on Windows, which meant interviews held in the Zoom or Teams desktop app were rejected even when audio was being shared correctly.
### Clearer Guidance When No Audio Comes Through
If your share does not include audio, the message now tells you which switch you missed for the thing you actually picked, and points you to sharing a browser tab when your browser cannot capture system audio at all. The pre-interview audio test now accepts exactly what a real session accepts, so it no longer fails a setup that would have worked.
### Answers Stay Put While You Read Them
When a new answer arrives while you are part-way through reading another one, the panel no longer jumps. The answer you are reading stays where it is, and a button appears telling you how many new answers are waiting. Click it whenever you are ready.
### Auto-Scroll Setting Now Sticks
Fixed an issue where turning auto-scroll off in Settings was quietly undone at the start of every session. Your choice is now remembered.
### Fewer Interruptions in Non-English Interviews
In non-English interviews, short acknowledgements from your interviewer — "okay", "right", "got it" and their equivalents — no longer trigger a full answer. Real questions are still answered, including short ones.
### Answers Match the Interviewer's Language
With multi-language mode on, answers now come back in the language the question was asked in, and your chosen interview language is used as the fallback when that is unclear. Changing your interview language also no longer switches multi-language mode off.
### Model List Updated
* Added **GPT-5.6 Luna** — OpenAI's fast, low-cost model, available on every plan.
* Added **Gemini 3.6 Flash** — Google's newest Flash model, available on every plan.
* Removed **GPT-5.3**. If it was your default model, choose a new one in Copilot settings.
* **GPT-5.4** and **GPT-5.4-Mini** now run on GPT-5.6 Luna.
### Models That Were Failing Now Work
Fixed **Gemini 3 Pro**, **Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite**, **Grok 3 Mini**, and **Grok Code Fast**. Selecting one of these could quietly fall back to a different model instead of the one you picked.
### Transcription Recovers After a Dropped Connection
Fixed an issue where a brief network interruption could stop transcription for the rest of your session, with no reconnection and no warning. Transcription now reconnects on its own and lets you know when it does.
### Better Knowledge Base Answers
Interview Copilot now draws on a wider spread of your uploaded documents within a single answer, instead of leaning on whichever document matched first. Stories you saved in STAR format are also used in full, so the result at the end of a story no longer gets left out.
### Upgraded Transcription for Interview Copilot and Phone Interviews
Interview Copilot sessions and phone interviews are moving to an upgraded transcription engine, with better accuracy on technical terminology and across accents. The change is rolling out gradually.
### See Which Model Powered Each Session
Interview reports now show the AI model that generated your responses in that session, so you can tell which model you were on when you compare how sessions went.
### WeChat Pay at Checkout
WeChat Pay now appears as a payment option when your checkout currency is CNY.
### Upgraded Transcription in Mock Interviews
Mock interviews are moving to an upgraded transcription engine, with better accuracy on technical terminology and across accents. The change is rolling out gradually.
### Coding Copilot Now Debugs Your Code
When you share code you have already written together with a failure — a traceback, an error message, a failing test case, wrong output, or "Time Limit Exceeded" — Coding Copilot now pinpoints the actual defect, explains why it causes that specific failure, and gives you the corrected code. Previously it re-derived the whole problem from scratch, which buried the fix you were looking for.
### More Accurate Knowledge Base Answers
Improved how your uploaded documents are searched during a session. The AI now quotes your material more accurately and repeats itself less.
### Longer Resumes Read in Full
Longer resumes are now read all the way through. Previously a long resume could be cut off part-way, leaving the AI unable to answer questions about your earlier roles.
### More Reliable Practice Transcription
Fixed an issue that could prevent your spoken answers from being transcribed during Question Bank practice sessions.
### Clearer Playground Limits
When you reach your hourly Playground limit, you now see a message that says so, instead of a generic service error. Your request is still answered.
### Faster Demo and Tutorial Videos
Demo and tutorial videos now start playing more quickly.
### Custom Style Editor No Longer Loses Your Edits
Fixed an issue where the custom Style editor could reset while you were working, discarding prompt edits you had not saved yet. The editor now loads a style once when you open it and keeps your changes until you save.
### Clearer Session Limit Messages
Session timeout and interview limit messages now reflect the actual limit on your plan.
### New Models
* Added **GPT-5.6 Sol** and **GPT-5.6 Terra**.
* Added **Claude 5 Sonnet**.
### Premium Model Add-on Updated
GPT-5.6 Sol, GPT-5.6 Terra, and Claude 5 Sonnet join Claude 4.7 Opus and Claude 4.8 Opus in the Premium Model add-on. The add-on dialog now lists exactly which models are included.
### Desktop 2.3.9 Release
* **Windows stability improvements** — fixed PowerChip rendering and window-order issues on Windows so the floating chip stays visible and behaves more reliably during interviews.
* **Better startup compatibility** — added a fallback startup path for machines where Electron's normal ready signal can be delayed by graphics driver behavior.
* **Screen protection toggle** — added a global shortcut to toggle screen protection and kept the menu state in sync.
* **PowerChip workflow polish** — improved main-window show/hide behavior, manual-response triggering, transcription clearing, and session-close handling.
### Interview Copilot Layout Settings
Added a dedicated Layout section in the Copilot preferences dropdown. The new compact Layout Settings modal lets you switch between Classic, Prompter, and Split layouts from the same place as display controls.
### Single Question View
Renamed "One Question at a Time" to **Single Question View** and moved it into Layout Settings alongside response length control and "Show Question in Response" for clearer session display preferences.
### Desktop 2.3.3 Release
* **Native Floating Chip View** — launched a native floating chip view for Interview Copilot for a more lightweight, always-accessible overlay during interviews.
* **Reliability and Bug Fixes** — general reliability improvements and bug fixes.
* **Screenshot Title Fix (macOS)** — when taking a screenshot, the app title next to the Apple icon will no longer change to "Verve AI" on macOS devices.
### Question Bank v2
Revamped the question bank saving system. With Question Bank v2, you can now track and practice every question you encountered during your interviews in one place.

Question Bank has been rebuilt from the ground up.
* **5,000+ real interview questions** sourced from candidate reports across top companies, updated daily.
* **Frequency reports, curated answers, and answer guides** on every question so you know what to prepare and how.
* **Practice in place** — start a voice-guided practice session directly from any question and rehearse with AI without leaving the page.
### Knowledge Base Enhancements
* **Folders** — organize your knowledge into folders and choose exactly which folder the AI can reference in a session.
* **In-app editing** — edit uploaded files directly inside Verve AI, no need to re-upload.
* **More file types** — added support for CSV and Markdown files.
* **File preview** — preview every uploaded file inline before using it.
* **Higher limits** — upload size raised from 2 MB to 3.5 MB, and you can now keep up to 50 files in your knowledge base (up from 10).
### New Branding Launch

### Thank You Email Tool in Interview Report
Added a new Thank You Email tool under Interview Report so you can generate a tailored follow-up email to send to your interviewer after the interview.

### Patch Theme: Consolidation of Interview Copilot
This patch introduces **Secondary Copilots** alongside the Primary (Interview) Copilot—a structural upgrade designed for interview types that revolve around a single, persistent problem or theme.
**Why we made this change:** Many interviews aren't purely conversational. Coding interviews center on one algorithmic question. System design interviews focus on one architecture. Data or consulting cases unfold over 20–30 minutes around a single problem. In these scenarios, candidates need complete end-to-end solutions, clear thought processes, complexity analysis, and implementation details—plus the ability to reuse and adapt solutions as follow-up questions are asked.
The new Secondary Copilot acts as a deep problem-solving workspace while continuously sharing context with the Interview Copilot, enabling intelligent responses to follow-ups like "Can you think of an alternative solution?", "What's the time complexity?", or "How would this scale?"
### Queue Images for Secondary Copilot and Chatbot
Secondary Copilots and Chatbot now support image queuing. Screenshots captured via Chrome extension or desktop hotkeys can be queued and sent together instead of being auto-submitted—perfect when questions span multiple screenshots.
### Shared Context Between Secondary and Interview Copilot
Secondary Copilots now share context with the primary Interview Copilot, enabling follow-up questions to reference previously solved problems. No more repeated explanations—deep solutions and reactive answers work together seamlessly.
### Secondary Copilots for New Interview Domains
Added Secondary Copilots for Mercor, System Design, Data, and Consulting interview domains. These interview types rely heavily on long-form reasoning and case-style problem solving.
### Multilingual Support for Secondary Copilots
Secondary Copilots now fully support multilingual input and output across all supported languages, ensuring consistent deep reasoning support for non-English interviews.
### Chatbot Feature Consolidation with Screen Capture
Chatbot now supports direct screen capture from Chrome extension and desktop hotkeys. The Desktop Capture tab is merged into Chatbot, eliminating feature duplication and creating a smoother capture-to-analysis workflow.
### Consolidated Text Highlight Actions
Highlighted text on the transcription page can now be sent directly to either Chatbot or Secondary Copilot, enabling faster context transfer and more flexible analysis options.
### Prompter and Split Screen for Phone & Meeting Copilot
Phone Copilot and Meeting Copilot now support Prompter and Split Screen layouts, matching core Copilot layout capabilities. Switch between Classic, Prompter, and Split layouts seamlessly during sessions.
### Default Layout for New Sessions
Users can now set a default Copilot layout (Classic, Prompter, or Split) that automatically applies to all new sessions, reducing setup friction.
### Hotkey Tutorial Shortcut
Added **Cmd/Ctrl + K** hotkey to open the hotkey tutorial window from anywhere in the app for faster shortcut discovery.
### Team Plan Self-Serve Setup
Enabled self-serve onboarding and management for Team plans without manual support involvement. Complete team signup, configuration, member management, and billing setup entirely on your own.
### Public Documentation Site Launch
Launched public documentation site at **docs.vervecopilot.com** covering product usage, features, and setup as a centralized, searchable source of truth.
### Mock Interview Experience Refresh
Improved AI avatar quality, enhanced text-to-speech performance, optimized interview start flow, and refined question generation logic for a more realistic practice experience.
### New Onboarding Experience
Redesigned onboarding experience to guide users through setup and their first successful Copilot session with clearer steps and faster time-to-value.
### Browser Floating Window Autoscroll Fix
Fixed floating window behavior to respect user autoscroll settings, resolving previous usability issues.
### Quality of Life Improvements
Applied multiple small usability improvements and bug fixes across the app for enhanced stability and day-to-day usability.
**Desktop 2.2.1 Update** - Bug fixes and stability improvements for the desktop app.
### Quick Launch from Dashboard
Added a Quick Launch button on the dashboard for instant Copilot session starts. Resume and company/role information are now optional, reducing session startup to just a few clicks. Perfect for quickly getting AI assistance without extensive setup.
### Auto + Manual Mode Improvement
Completely redesigned manual mode with a new **Cmd/Ctrl + Enter** trigger. The system now intelligently maintains a moving window of recent interviewer transcription and automatically includes relevant messages based on recency. Customize the lookback window in Copilot settings to match your workflow.
*Previous instant response mode has been deprecated in favor of this more efficient keyboard-driven approach.*
### Unified Transcription UX
Standardized audio sharing experience across AssemblyAI and Deepgram (fallback) on both desktop and browser. Error messaging is now consistent when users cancel audio sharing. Migrated Italian, French, and three additional languages to AssemblyAI with enhanced multilingual support.
### Desktop 2.2.0 Features

## How to Use It
While our copilot automatically detects questions during interviews for a hands-free experience, Chatbot offers five powerful ways to take control:
### 1. Screen Capture
Capture anything on your screen and send it directly to Chatbot for immediate support—the fastest way to get help with visual content.
**Browser version:**

# Layout settings
Source: https://docs.vervecopilot.com/features/copilot-layout-response-settings
Configure default layout and response mode for new interview sessions
## Overview
Configure your preferred starting view and response mode so every new Interview Copilot session launches with your ideal setup. No need to reconfigure layout or mode settings each time—set it once and your preferences are automatically applied.
**How to access:** Click the **settings gear icon** on the [copilot launch page](https://www.app.vervecopilot.com/copilot), then select the **Layout** tab
The settings modal has multiple tabs: **Response Style** for customizing AI prompts, and **Layout** for configuring default view and mode settings. [Learn about Custom Response Style →](/features/custom-response-style)
***
## Default Layout
Choose the starting view for new copilot sessions. This determines how the interface is organized when you first launch the copilot.
### Chip Layout *(Desktop only)*
A native floating chip paired with a compact response window. Lightweight, stays out of the way, and blends into your workflow.
### Classic Layout
Transcript on the left, copilot responses on the right. Best for following the conversation and checking transcription accuracy in real time.
### Prompter Layout
A single-pane focus view that hides the transcript and maximizes space for copilot responses.
### Split Screen Layout
Two copilot panels side-by-side without the transcript—e.g. Copilot + Chatbot. Similar to [Split Screen Mode](/guides/split-screen-mode), but as your default.
These are default settings for new sessions only. You can always change layout and response mode during active interviews using hotkeys.
***
## Default Response Mode
Control how the copilot generates responses in new sessions. This setting determines whether responses appear automatically or only when you trigger them.
### Auto Mode (Default)
Responses generate automatically when the interviewer finishes speaking. Fully hands-free experience with real-time suggestions.
**Best for:**
* Fast-paced interviews where you need instant support
* Hands-free workflow during screen sharing
* When you want continuous, automatic guidance
### Manual Mode
Responses generate only when you explicitly request them using Cmd + Enter (Mac) or Ctrl + Enter (Windows). Transcription runs continuously in the background.
**Best for:**
* Multi-part questions where you want to wait for the complete question
* Strategic control over when suggestions appear
* Reducing cognitive load by choosing when to reference the copilot
### Smart Listening
Responses generate automatically, but only once the interviewer has finished a question. Half-finished questions are held until the rest arrives, and small talk is skipped.
**Best for:**
* Interviewers who pause mid-question or ask long, multi-part questions
* Interviews with small talk or filler you don't want answered
* Hands-free use with fewer unwanted answers
[Learn more about Smart Listening →](/features/smart-listening)

# Custom response style
Source: https://docs.vervecopilot.com/features/custom-response-style
Create personalized AI response styles with custom prompts and variables to match your interview needs
## Overview
Custom Response Style lets you customize exactly how your AI Interview Copilot generates responses by modifying the system and user prompts that power the AI. This advanced feature gives you complete control over the AI's behavior, tone, structure, and focus—allowing you to tailor responses to your specific interview style and needs.
**How to access:** Click the **settings gear icon** on the [copilot launch page](https://www.app.vervecopilot.com/copilot), then select the **Response Style** tab. This can also be accessed on [Playground](https://www.app.vervecopilot.com/playground) → **Custom Styles** tab.
Test your custom styles in the [Playground](https://www.app.vervecopilot.com/playground) before using them in live interviews to ensure they generate the responses you expect.
***
## How to Create a Custom Response Style
Go to the [copilot launch page](https://www.app.vervecopilot.com/copilot) and click the **settings gear icon**. Select the **Response Style** tab.
Click **Create New Style** to start building a custom response configuration.
Give your style a descriptive name (e.g., "Technical Interview - Concise", "Behavioral STAR Format", "System Design Deep Dive").
Modify the system prompt to define how the AI should behave. This controls the AI's role, tone, and general instructions.
**Example:** "You are a technical interview assistant. Provide concise, code-focused answers with minimal explanation. Always include time/space complexity analysis."
Define how user input is formatted when sent to the AI. Insert variables using double curly braces like `{{variableName}}`.
**Example:** Question: `{{interview.question}}` with Candidate Background: `{{interview.question}}` and Target Role: `{{interview.question}}`
Once complete, click **Save** to add your custom style to your library. It will now appear in your style selection dropdown.
***
## How to Manage Custom Styles
The [Playground](https://www.app.vervecopilot.com/playground) is your central hub for testing, managing, and refining custom response styles before using them in real interviews.
### Test Your Custom Styles
Navigate to [Playground](https://www.app.vervecopilot.com/playground) from your dashboard.
In the left panel, find and select the custom style you want to test from the dropdown menu.
Type interview questions in the right-side chat box to see how your custom style generates responses.
Review the AI's answers to ensure they match your expectations in terms of tone, structure, and content.
Return to settings to adjust your prompts based on test results, then re-test until responses feel perfect.
Use the Custom Styles tab in Playground to make prompt engineering faster and more intuitive without switching between multiple pages.
***
## Available Variables
When creating custom prompts, you can insert dynamic variables that automatically populate with your personal information. This makes responses more contextual and relevant to your specific interview.
### Persona Variables
These variables pull from your active interview profile:
| Variable | Description | Example Use Case |
| - | - | - |
| `{{persona.name}}` | Your full name | Personalizing response introductions |
| `{{persona.resume}}` | Your uploaded resume content | Tailoring answers to your experience |
| `{{persona.jobRole}}` | Target position title | Focusing responses on role-specific skills |
| `{{persona.jobDescription}}` | Full job posting details | Aligning answers with company requirements |
| `{{persona.company}}` | Company name | Customizing responses for specific organizations |
| `{{persona.companyDescription}}` | Company background info | Demonstrating knowledge of the company |
### Interview Variables
These variables are dynamically updated during your interview session:
| Variable | Description | Example Use Case |
| - | - | - |
| `{{interview.question}}` | The question being asked | Ensuring responses directly address the question |
| `{{interview.conversationHistory}}` | Previous questions and answers | Maintaining context across the interview |
| `{{interview.language}}` | Interview language setting | Ensuring responses match the interview language |
| `{{interview.knowledgeBase}}` | Uploaded support documents | Incorporating cheat sheets and reference materials |
***
## Troubleshooting
Ensure you're using the exact variable names with correct spelling: `{{persona.name}}`, `{{persona.resume}}`, `{{interview.question}}`, etc. Variables use camelCase formatting.
Make your system prompt more specific and directive. Use clear language like "Always include..." or "Never mention..." instead of suggestions like "Try to..." or "Consider...".
Ensure you've selected the correct custom style before launching your interview session. Check the Response Style dropdown in copilot settings before clicking "Start Interview."
After creating a style in settings, refresh the page or navigate back to the [Copilot Launch Page](https://www.app.vervecopilot.com/copilot). If it still doesn't appear, check that you clicked "Save" after creating the style.

# Job Agent
Source: https://docs.vervecopilot.com/features/job-agent
Chat with an assistant that searches live job postings, scores each one against your resume, and keeps track of what you saved, applied to, or dismissed.
## What is Job Agent?
**Job Agent** is a chat assistant for your job search. Tell it what you are looking for, and it searches live postings, reads your resume, and shows the jobs worth applying to as cards with a match score.
It also helps with the work around a job search, and answers questions about Verve AI:
* **Find jobs.** It searches company career pages and job aggregators, then picks five or six postings and tells you which one or two deserve your time and what gap to know about.
* **Judge fit honestly.** Every score is weighed against your actual resume. Stretches and near-misses are shown with a low score, not hidden.
* **Remember your reactions.** Jobs you saved, applied to, or dismissed are remembered, with your reasons, so later searches don't bring back what you already rejected.
* **Help with applications.** Ask it to prepare you for an interview, tighten a resume bullet, or draft an answer to an application question.
* **Answer questions about Verve AI.** It reads this help center and answers from the matching article, with a link.
* **Hand off to support.** For anything that needs a person, such as a charge, a refund, or a bug, it drafts a message for you to send to the support team.
Job Agent is in beta. Open it from **Job Agent** in the sidebar, or go to [app.vervecopilot.com/jobs/agent](https://www.app.vervecopilot.com/jobs/agent).
***
## How to Use It
Upload a resume to your [Resume Library](https://www.app.vervecopilot.com/resume-library). Job Agent reads your most recent one before its first search. You can also attach a PDF or text file (up to 2MB) to a message instead.
Type a request such as "Senior backend roles, remote, posted this week" or "Find roles that match my resume". Include a location if it matters.
Each card shows a match score, the title, company, location, pay when the posting lists it, and when it was posted. Click the title to read the full description. **Open** takes you to the original posting.
Use the **Save**, **Applied**, and **Dismiss** buttons on a card, or just say it in the chat ("that one is too junior"). Your reason is saved with the job. Applied and dismissed jobs leave the list; saved jobs stay.
If you have no resume saved, Job Agent asks for your target role, level, skills, and location, then searches on what you typed.
***
## Tracked Jobs and History
* **Tracked** lists every job you reacted to, in three tabs: **Saved**, **Applied**, and **Dismissed**.
* **History** opens your past conversations.
* **New chat** starts a fresh conversation. Your tracked jobs carry over.
Job Agent does not apply to jobs for you. **Applied** is a note you set after applying on the employer's site.
***
## Questions About Verve AI
Ask how a feature works or why something isn't working, and Job Agent looks it up in this help center and answers from the article.
When the help center doesn't cover your case, or the question is about your account, Job Agent shows a card with a drafted message and a **Message support** button. The button opens the support chat with the draft filled in. Nothing is sent until you send it.
Job Agent cannot see your account, billing, or interview sessions.
***
## Message Limits
Each message you send counts as one, whether it is a job search or a question.
| Plan | Messages per week |
| - | - |
| Free | 10 |
| Job Agent (\$19.99/month) | 100 |
* The dial next to the message box shows how many messages are left and when they reset.
* The limit resets every Thursday at 00:00 UTC.
* Job Agent is a separate subscription. Pro and Premium plans do not change the weekly limit.
***
## Good to Know
* **A search takes a moment.** One search checks a few hundred job boards, so a reply usually takes 20 to 40 seconds.
* **Results depend on the sources.** Coverage is strongest in the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada. If a search returns little, Job Agent says so and names what it searched.
* **Other tools do some jobs better.** For a full resume rewrite or interview practice, Job Agent points you to the [Resume Builder](/features/resume-builder), [Interview Profiles](/features/create-first-persona), or [Mock Interview](/features/mock-interview).

# Knowledge Base
Source: https://docs.vervecopilot.com/features/knowledge-base
Train your AI Interview Copilot with uploaded documents and documents created from scratch for personalized interview assistance.
## Overview
The Knowledge Base is your central hub for training and preparing your AI Interview Copilot. It focuses on AI-usable documents, whether you upload an existing file or create one from scratch.
**Access:** [Knowledge Base](https://www.app.vervecopilot.com/knowledge-base)
***
## Choose the Right Knowledge Base Option
The Knowledge Base gives you 2 ways to add AI-usable documents:
| Option | Upload Document | Create from Scratch |
| - | - | - |
| **Purpose** | Add existing files for Copilot context | Write new context directly in Knowledge Base |
| **Used by Copilot** | Yes | Yes |
| **How It Works** | Upload a file and let Copilot reference it | Type content manually using STAR or free-form input |
| **Format** | .pdf, .docx, .pptx, .txt, .csv, .md files (up to 3.5 MB) | Structured STAR fields or a free-form message |
| **Best For** | Resumes, job descriptions, company info | Personal stories, prepared answers, project examples |
***
## Documents
AI actively uses documents to generate tailored responses during your interview. Upload resumes, job descriptions, company research, and other materials that give the Copilot stronger context.
Visit the [Knowledge Base](https://www.app.vervecopilot.com/knowledge-base) and select the **Documents** tab.
Click the **+ New Document** button to start uploading.
Drag and drop or choose a local file. Supported formats: **.pdf, .docx, .pptx, .txt, .csv, .md** (up to **3.5 MB**).
Once uploaded, your document appears on the dashboard. Toggle it ON to include it in Copilot responses or OFF to exclude it.
**Supported formats:** .pdf, .docx, .pptx, .txt, .csv, .md — up to **3.5 MB** per file.
**Scanned or image-only files can't be indexed.** A PDF or DOCX made up of page images — a phone photo, a copier scan, or a screenshot pasted into Word — contains no text for Copilot to read, so it can't be added to your Knowledge Base. Run the file through OCR first, or upload a version with real, selectable text.
### What to Upload
* **Company Research:** Information about the company, culture, products, or recent news
* **Technical Specs:** Technical documentation, architecture diagrams, or technology overviews
* **Portfolio Summaries:** Project summaries, case studies, or work samples relevant to the role
* **Industry Reports:** Market research, trends, or industry-specific knowledge
* **Product Documentation:** Product guides, user manuals, or feature specifications you should know
* **Study Materials:** Interview prep notes, coding patterns, or domain-specific guides
***
## Organize with Folders
Folders let you group related documents — for example, by role, company, or interview type — so you can keep your Knowledge Base tidy and load only the relevant context into each Copilot session.
In the Knowledge Base sidebar, click **+ New folder** and give it a name (e.g., *sde*, *data*, *consulting*).
Open the **⋯** action menu on any document, choose **Add to folder**, and pick the destination folder.
Click any folder in the sidebar to view only its documents. Use **All documents** to see everything, or **Enabled files** to see only what's active.
At launch time, you can scope a Copilot session to a single folder instead of your entire Knowledge Base — useful when you've prepared role-specific notes you don't want bleeding into other interviews.
***
## Create from Scratch
If you do not want to upload a file, you can create a document directly inside Knowledge Base. This is the right option for interview stories, prepared answers, project summaries, and other context you want Copilot to use.
Go to the [Knowledge Base](https://www.app.vervecopilot.com/knowledge-base) and choose the option to create a document from scratch.
Click to create a new document instead of uploading an existing file.
Pick either the **STAR format** or a **free-form message**, depending on how structured you want the content to be.
Add a title, fill in your content, and save it so the document becomes part of your Copilot response context.
### When to Create from Scratch
* **Behavioral stories:** STAR examples for leadership, conflict, delivery, or ownership
* **Prepared answers:** Common interview prompts you want to answer consistently
* **Project summaries:** Highlights you want Copilot to reference without uploading a separate file
* **Role-specific talking points:** Domain knowledge, priorities, or examples tailored to one interview
### Example STAR Entry
**Situation:** Our e-commerce platform was experiencing slow checkout times, causing a 15% cart abandonment rate.
**Task:** As the lead developer, I needed to optimize the checkout flow while maintaining all security and payment integrations.
**Action:** I conducted performance profiling, identified database query bottlenecks, implemented Redis caching for session data, and optimized the payment gateway API calls. I also worked with the UX team to streamline the user interface.
**Result:** Reduced checkout time from 45 seconds to 12 seconds, decreasing cart abandonment by 60% and increasing completed purchases by 25% over three months. The solution handled 3x the original traffic capacity.
### Input Styles
#### STAR Format (Recommended)
The STAR method gives both the AI and your interviewer a clean structure to follow:
* **Situation:** Set the context and background
* **Task:** Describe the challenge or goal
* **Action:** Explain what you specifically did
* **Result:** Share the outcome and impact
#### Free-Form Message
You can also write your document in a natural, conversational style. The AI will extract key points and integrate them appropriately during the interview.
# Manual mode
Source: https://docs.vervecopilot.com/features/manual-mode
Take control of when your AI interview copilot generates responses during technical and behavioral interviews.
## What is Manual Mode?
By default, Interview Copilot operates in **Auto Mode**, providing a hands-free experience where it automatically transcribes questions, detects when the interviewer finishes speaking, and generates responses in real-time.
**Manual Mode** gives you control over when the copilot generates responses. Transcription continues automatically in the background, but the copilot only provides an answer when you explicitly request it.
**How to access:** Manual Mode is available in every active Interview Copilot session after you [launch copilot](/quickstart)
You can set Manual Mode as your default starting mode in [Layout and Response Mode](/features/copilot-layout-response-settings) so every new session launches with Manual Mode enabled.
***
## How to Enable Manual Mode
You can switch between Auto Mode and Manual Mode at any time during your active copilot session.
### Using the Button
Find the **response mode button** in the top-right corner of the copilot interface.
* **Manual** = responses generate only when you ask
* **Auto** = responses generate automatically
* **Smart Listening** = waits for the interviewer to finish and skips anything that isn't a question. [Learn more](/features/smart-listening)
### Using the Hotkey
Press Cmd + M (Mac) or Ctrl + M (Windows) to toggle between Auto Mode and Manual Mode instantly.
***
## How to Request a Response in Manual Mode
When in Manual Mode, the most recent transcription is automatically highlighted with a **purple border** in the transcription section, indicating which message the AI will answer when you trigger a response.
To request copilot assistance for the highlighted question:
**Press Cmd + Enter (Mac) or Ctrl + Enter (Windows)**
The copilot will generate a response based on the highlighted transcription. Once sent, you cannot trigger Manual Mode again until new transcription messages come in.
You must be in Manual Mode for this hotkey to work. In Auto Mode, responses are already generated automatically.

* Interview on your **primary device**
* Run Verve AI Copilot on your **tablet, second phone, or mobile device**
* Glance at suggestions discreetly during the conversation
***
## Important Limitations
### Audio Quality Tradeoffs
Mobile browsers capture both interviewer and interviewee audio from the same source, making it harder to:
* Distinguish between speakers clearly
* Maintain consistent audio levels
* Filter background noise effectively
**Recommendation:** Use mobile only when a phone device is your only option for conducting the interview. For best results, use the Desktop App or Browser Version.
***
## Using the Mobile Experience
Once you've launched your session, follow these steps to get AI assistance during your interview:
After launching the session, select your microphone device so the AI can hear the interview
When you need assistance during the interview, press the Assist button

When you can't use a computer for the interview
Interviews conducted while traveling or away from desk
***
## Mobile vs. Desktop vs. Browser
| Feature | Mobile | Browser Version | Desktop App |
| - | - | - | - |
| **Installation** | None | None | Required |
| **Supported Copilots** | Phone Interview only | All domains | All domains |
| **Audio Quality** | Lower | High | High |
| **Discreet on Separate Device** | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| **Transcription Quality** | Compromised | High | High |
| **Screen Capture** | No | Extension only | Hotkey |
| **Stealth Mode** | No | No | Yes |
| **Best Use Case** | Phone interviews | Browser-based interviews | All interview types |
***
## Troubleshooting
Check mobile browser permissions. Go to Settings > \[Browser] > Microphone and ensure access is granted. Try refreshing and restarting the session.
This is a known limitation of mobile audio capture. Ensure you're in a quiet environment, speak clearly, and manually verify speaker selection. Consider using Desktop App for better quality.
Compromised audio transcription affects response quality. Manually select the correct speaker as interviewer. If issues persist, switch to Desktop or Browser version.
Currently, only Phone Interview Copilot is supported on mobile. For Coding, OA, or General Interview Copilots, use the Browser Version or Desktop App.
You must manually select which speaker is the interviewer for real-time support to activate. Check your session settings and speaker selection.

* **Mixed Format** - Questions combining text and images
***
## Troubleshooting
For browser: check that the extension is installed and enabled in your extensions menu, then refresh and try again; for desktop: make sure the app is running and try the hotkey again—that usually does the trick!
Make sure you scroll so the entire question—all text and images—is visible on your screen before capturing (browser: before clicking the icon; desktop: before selecting the area), since our AI can only work with what it can see.
Check your internet connection first, and keep in mind that complex questions with detailed images might take a few extra seconds—if it's consistently slow, try restarting the app/browser or reach out to our support team for help!
# Phone Interview
Source: https://docs.vervecopilot.com/features/phone-interview
Use Interview Copilot on desktop with speaker diarization for phone calls conducted on a separate device
## What is Phone Interview?
Phone Interview is a specialized Interview Copilot mode designed for **separate device setups** where you conduct your phone interview on one device while running the copilot on your desktop. Using our speaker diarization technology, the copilot automatically identifies different speakers and responds to the interviewer's questions in real-time.
**How to access:** Select **Phone Interview** as your interview domain in Step 1 of [launching interview copilot](https://www.app.vervecopilot.com/copilot)
***
## How It Works
After selecting Phone Interview, enable your microphone to capture audio from your phone call. Position your phone near your computer's microphone for clear audio capture.
Our diarization technology automatically detects and separates different speakers in the conversation as they talk.
From the detected speakers, select which one is the interviewer. This tells the AI whose questions to focus on and respond to.
Once the interviewer is assigned, the AI automatically provides responses to their questions in real-time, helping you answer effectively.
***
## Speaker Diarization
### What is Diarization?
Speaker diarization is our technology that automatically identifies and distinguishes between different speakers in an audio stream. This allows the AI to:
* Separate the interviewer's questions from your responses
* Accurately attribute statements to the correct speaker
* Provide contextually relevant answers to interviewer questions only
### Assigning the Interviewer
After diarization detects the speakers:
1. You'll see the detected speakers listed in your session
2. Select the speaker who is the interviewer
3. The AI will monitor that speaker's questions and provide assistance
4. You can reassign speakers if needed during the session
***
## Manual Mode
[Manual mode](/features/manual-mode) is fully supported in Phone Interview mode. When using manual mode:
* Diarization still works to separate and identify speakers
* You control when to request AI assistance by pressing the **Assist** button
* Useful when you prefer to selectively get help on specific questions
* The AI will use the recent transcription context when you request assistance
Manual mode is helpful in noisy environments or when you want more control over when the AI provides suggestions.
# Question Bank
Source: https://docs.vervecopilot.com/features/question-bank
Browse and practice with thousands of real interview questions sourced from top companies.
## Overview
The Question Bank is your interview vault: thousands of real interview questions from top companies, curated collections, and a built-in practice mode. Browse by topic or company, drill into any question, and practice answering out loud with audio-guided sessions.
Start from a **Curated Collection** like Top 50 Behavioral, Coding Essentials, System Design 101, or Product Sense, or filter by question **type** (Behavioral, Coding, System Design, Product Sense, Data & ML, AI Engineering, etc.) or **company**.
***
## Browse Questions
Search across 5,000+ real interview questions from 300+ companies, updated daily. Each row shows the question type, the companies that have asked it, difficulty, and frequency so you can prioritize what to practice.
Use **Filters** to narrow by category, difficulty, or company, save questions to **My Lists** for later, and jump straight into a **Top Pick** collection from the side panel.
***
## Practice a Question
Open any question and click **Start interview** to enter a voice-guided practice session. Verve AI reads the question aloud and listens to your answer, so you can rehearse exactly how you'd respond live.
The right panel shows **Question Details** — frequency, difficulty, last updated, the companies that have asked it, and topical tags — so you understand the context before you answer.
***
## Question Details and Sample Answers
Every question comes with a **Sample Answer** structured in STAR format and metadata that helps you tailor your own response.
Click **Personalize with Resume** to rewrite the sample answer using your own background, experience, and projects — turning a generic example into a response you can actually deliver.
# AI Resume Builder
Source: https://docs.vervecopilot.com/features/resume-builder
Create a new resume or improve an existing one with templates, formatting controls, structured sections, and AI-assisted writing.
## Overview
The **AI Resume Builder** helps you create, refine, and export resumes with customizable templates, flexible formatting controls, and AI-assisted writing tools. You can upload an existing resume to continue editing it, or start from scratch using the same builder interface.
***
## Resume Library
The **Resume Library** is your central hub for managing every resume you've created or uploaded. Use it to find past resumes, designate a Master Resume, and start a new one.
* **Search** by file name to quickly locate a saved resume
* **Master Resume** marks your primary resume as the default source for tailored applications
* **+ New Resume** starts a new resume, either from upload or from scratch
* The **⋯** action menu lets you edit, duplicate, download, or delete any resume
***
## Getting Started
The AI Resume Builder supports two ways to begin creating your resume.
### Upload an Existing Resume
If you already have a resume, you can upload it and continue editing within the builder. The system extracts content from your uploaded document so you can update sections, adjust formatting, and refine descriptions directly inside the editor.
### Start From Scratch
You can also create a new resume from an empty template. Sections can be filled in manually and structured according to your preferred layout and formatting settings.
Both approaches use the same editing interface and formatting controls.
***
## Templates and Formatting
Templates and formatting settings control the overall layout, spacing, and typography of your resume. These tools help you organize information clearly and adjust the visual structure of the document.
### Template
The template determines the structural layout of the resume.
* **Single Column** uses a traditional vertical layout where all sections appear in one column. This format emphasizes clarity and consistency.
* **Two Column** divides the page into two vertical sections, allowing supporting information such as skills or links to appear alongside primary sections.
* **Modern** uses a contemporary layout style that improves visual hierarchy while maintaining a structured presentation.
* **Modern Two Column** combines modern styling with a two-column structure to provide more flexibility in organizing resume content.
### Page Size
Page size determines the dimensions of the resume document.
Different regions use different standard page formats. Selecting the appropriate page size helps ensure the resume exports and prints correctly depending on where it will be used.
### Layout and Spacing
Layout settings determine how content is distributed across the page.
You can adjust:
* **Margins**, which control the white space around the edges of the page
* **Section spacing**, which defines the distance between major resume sections
* **Item spacing**, which controls the gap between entries within the same section
* **Line spacing**, which affects the readability of paragraphs and bullet points
These settings let you balance readability with efficient use of space.
### Typography
Typography settings control how text appears throughout the resume.
You can adjust base text size, header scaling, and the font styles used for headings and body text. These settings help create a clear visual hierarchy so important information stands out while keeping the document easy to read.
### Effective Output
The builder generates a preview of the resume based on your selected formatting settings.
This preview reflects the final layout, spacing, and typography so you can review the design before exporting.
***
## Resume Sections
The resume editor lets you organize your information into structured sections. Each section highlights a different part of your background and helps employers quickly understand your qualifications.
### Personal Information
The Personal Information section contains your primary contact details and professional identity.
This section helps employers quickly identify who you are and how to reach you. It may also include links to professional profiles or portfolios that support your application.
### Summary
The Summary section provides a brief overview of your professional background.
It highlights your experience, key strengths, and general career direction, helping recruiters quickly understand your profile before reviewing the rest of your resume.
### Experience
The Experience section outlines your professional work history.
Each entry represents a role you have held and includes information about the position, organization, and time period. Descriptions summarize responsibilities, contributions, and achievements.
This section demonstrates your practical experience and professional growth.
### Education
The Education section provides information about your academic background.
It typically includes institutions attended, degrees earned, and the time period during which you studied. This section helps employers understand your academic training and qualifications.
### Projects
The Projects section highlights independent work, academic initiatives, or professional projects that demonstrate your skills.
Projects help showcase practical experience and can be especially useful when demonstrating technical ability or portfolio-style work.
### Skills and Awards
The Skills and Awards section lets you list competencies, certifications, recognitions, or additional qualifications.
This section helps employers quickly understand your capabilities and any notable achievements that support your application.
***
## AI Enhancement
AI enhancement tools are available throughout the resume builder to help generate or refine resume content.
You can use AI to improve descriptions, strengthen bullet points, clarify wording, and expand sections so your resume communicates your experience more effectively. These tools can assist both when building a resume from scratch and when improving an uploaded resume.
***
## Manual Editing
All resume content can be edited directly in the builder.
Manual editing lets you revise wording, adjust structure, and refine details according to your preferences. AI suggestions can always be reviewed and modified before saving.
***
## Exporting Your Resume
Once your resume is complete, it can be exported into a final document suitable for job applications.
The exported document preserves the selected layout, formatting, and typography so the resume appears consistent when shared with employers or uploaded to application platforms.
# Smart Listening
Source: https://docs.vervecopilot.com/features/smart-listening
Let Interview Copilot wait for the interviewer to finish before it answers.
## What is Smart Listening?
Without Smart Listening, Interview Copilot answers every line as soon as it is transcribed. If the interviewer stops mid-sentence, you get an answer to half a question. If they say "okay" or make small talk, you get an answer to that too.
**Smart Listening** checks each line before answering it:
* **A finished question** is answered right away.
* **A question cut off halfway** is held until the interviewer finishes. The rest joins it, and you get one answer to the whole question.
* **Anything that isn't a question**, such as small talk, "mm-hmm", or a comment, is skipped.
Smart Listening is in beta and available to everyone. It works in Interview Copilot (browser and desktop app) and in [phone interviews](/features/phone-interview).
***
## How to Use It
Interview Copilot has three response modes. New sessions start in **Auto** unless you change the default.
* **Manual**: answers only when you ask for one.
* **Auto**: answers each line as soon as it is transcribed.
* **Smart Listening**: waits for the interviewer to finish, and skips anything that isn't a question.
### Switch During an Interview
Click the response mode button at the top right of your answers and choose **Smart Listening**. You can switch between the three modes at any time, and the change applies to that interview only. **See how the modes work**, in the same menu, plays a short demo.
### Start Every Session in Smart Listening
Click the settings gear icon on the [copilot launch page](https://www.app.vervecopilot.com/copilot).
Under **Default Response Mode**, choose **Smart Listening** and save. Every new session starts in it.
Smart Listening uses its own shorter transcription pause, so the [Pause Interval](/guides/pause-interval) setting applies to Auto only. If you switch between Auto and Smart Listening after you have started sharing audio, you may be asked to confirm first: the interviewer audio reconnects for a few seconds, and your screen sharing stays on.
***
## What You'll See in the Transcript
* **Waiting for the rest.** The question is on hold, drawn as a dashed card with a countdown ring. The ring refills each time the interviewer speaks.
* **Q1, Q2, …** The question was answered.
* **Faded line.** The line was skipped. Click **Answer** if you want an answer anyway. The most recent skipped line always shows the button; on older ones it appears when you hover.
If the interviewer stays quiet for about 5 seconds and the question was never finished, it is skipped rather than answered on a guess.
**Answer now:** Press Cmd + Enter (Mac) or Ctrl + Enter (Windows) to answer a held question immediately.
***
## Good to Know
* **Answers start sooner.** Smart Listening doesn't need a long pause to tell when a question ended, so it uses a shorter transcription pause.
* **Phone interviews.** Only the speaker you select as the interviewer is checked. Pick the interviewer first.
* **If the check is slow or unavailable,** the line is handled the way it would be with Smart Listening off.
* **Privacy.** Each line is checked by an AI model with zero data retention. The transcript is not stored by the checking service.
# Stealth mode
Source: https://docs.vervecopilot.com/features/stealth-mode
Keep your AI interview assistant completely invisible during screen sharing with Verve stealth mode for discreet interview support.
## What is Stealth Mode?
Stealth Mode keeps Verve AI hidden from your interviewer **even when you share your screen**. You see the copilot on your local screen, but interviewers viewing your shared screen won't see anything.
**Desktop App only** - Stealth Mode requires the [Desktop App](/features/desktop-app). Not available in Browser or Mobile versions.
***
## How to Enable Stealth Mode
1. **Download** the [Desktop App](https://www.vervecopilot.com/app)
2. **Launch Interview Copilot**
3. **Turn on Stealth Mode** at Step 3, confirm your settings, then click **Launch Copilot**
4. **Test it** - Record your screen or do a test call to verify invisibility
Choose one method to verify it works:
**Option 1: Screen Recording (Quick)**
1. Start recording your screen (QuickTime on Mac, Xbox Game Bar on Windows)
2. Launch Verve AI with Stealth Mode enabled
3. Play back the recording - Verve AI should be invisible
**Option 2: Test Call (Thorough)**
1. Call a friend and share your screen exactly as you will in the interview
2. Ask if they can see Verve AI
3. Adjust settings if needed
***
## Stealth Mode Compatibility
Stealth Mode is guaranteed invisible in these scenarios:
| Sharing Method | Platform | Result |
| - | - | - |
| **Window or Tab sharing** | Any meeting platform | ✅ Invisible |
| **Entire screen sharing** | Zoom desktop app | ✅ Invisible |
| **Entire screen sharing** | Microsoft Teams desktop app | ✅ Invisible |
**May not work:** Entire screen sharing from browser-based meetings (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera running Google Meet, Zoom, or Teams in browser)
**Simple fixes:**
* Share a specific window or tab instead of entire screen (works on any platform)
* Use desktop meeting apps instead of browser versions
* Use a two-monitor setup: Place Verve AI on second monitor, share primary screen only
***
## Troubleshooting
**Most common fixes:**
* Switch from "Entire Screen" to "Window" or "Tab" sharing
* Use Zoom/Teams desktop app instead of browser version
* Verify Stealth Mode is actually enabled (check Step 3, confirm settings, then launch)
* Restart the Desktop App and re-enable Stealth Mode
Look for "Stealth Mode: Active" indicator in the Desktop App interface. Always verify with a test screen share or recording before your interview.
No. Stealth Mode only works in the Desktop App. Download it [here](https://www.vervecopilot.com/app).
If you must use browser-based meetings:
* Share specific windows or tabs instead of entire screen
* Position Verve AI on a second monitor (if available)
Stealth Mode works best with:
* Zoom desktop app
* Teams desktop app
* Any platform when sharing specific windows/tabs
May not work reliably when sharing entire screen from Chromium browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera).
Instead of sharing your entire screen:
1. Click **"Share Screen"** in your meeting
2. Select **"Window"** or **"Tab"** (not "Entire Screen")
3. Choose only the window you want interviewer to see (IDE, browser, assessment platform)
This guarantees Verve AI stays hidden on any platform.

# Access session on another device
Source: https://docs.vervecopilot.com/guides/access-session-on-another-device
Share your active interview session link to access it on your phone or another device
## What is Session Sharing?
Session Sharing lets you copy a link to your active Interview Copilot session and open it on another device. Both devices stay in sync with the same real-time suggestions, so you're always seeing the latest copilot responses.
***
## Common Use Cases
If you don't have a second monitor, use your phone as an extra screen. Keep the video call fullscreen on your laptop while viewing copilot suggestions on your phone beside your keyboard.
When the interviewer asks you to share your entire screen, having the copilot on your phone keeps it completely off your computer—nothing to hide or minimize.
If your laptop has audio issues or crashes mid-interview, your phone already has the session open and ready to continue without interruption.
***
## How to Share Your Session
Begin an active [Interview Copilot](/features/interview-copilot) session.
Click the **Settings** gear icon in your active session.
Find the **Session Sharing** section and click to copy the session link.
Paste the link in your phone's browser (or any other device) to access the live session.
***
## Tips
**Send the link before your interview starts** - Text or email the session link to yourself so it's ready to open on your phone when you need it.

## Overview
**Auto Select** is the default and works well for most interviews: it starts answering fast and reasons well. Pick another model when you want deeper reasoning for hard technical rounds, or the fastest possible start for rapid back-and-forth.
There's no single "perfect" model. Test a few in the [Playground](/features/what-is-playground) with real interview questions before your interview.
***
## How to Read the Model Picker
Every model in the picker shows two things:
* **Intelligence** - how deeply the model reasons: Basic, Medium, High, or Highest.
* **First word** - how long you wait before the answer starts to appear: Fastest, Fast, Moderate, or Slower.
Smarter models reason more deeply but take longer to start answering. In a live interview, a fast start often matters more than the last bit of depth. Click a column header to sort by name, intelligence, or speed.

## How to Find Your Perfect Model
Use the recommendations above as your starting point based on your upcoming interview.
Go to the [Playground](https://www.app.vervecopilot.com/playground) and test with actual questions you expect in your interview.
Try the same question with different models to compare response style, speed, and quality.
Some people prefer concise answers, others want detailed explanations. Choose what feels natural to you.
Adjust the response style to fine-tune the output format. For advanced customization, try [creating custom response styles](/features/custom-response-style) with personalized prompts.
Once you find your preferred setup, apply the settings and run a mock interview session to validate.
***
## Common Questions
Pick it when you launch a session, or set your default model in Settings. Choose and test it in the Playground before the interview starts.
Not necessarily. Models like Claude Sonnet 5.5 excel at complex reasoning, but they take longer to start answering. For quick back-and-forth, Auto Select or GPT-6 Luna are often more practical. It depends on your interview type and pace.
Yes, if you like. Use a higher-intelligence model for coding and system design rounds, and a faster one for behavioral rounds. Test each scenario in the Playground first.
Start with **Auto Select**, or a high-intelligence model like **Claude Sonnet 5.5** or **GLM-5.3**. These handle both coding and high-level reasoning well.
Ask yourself:
* Are responses coming at the right speed for my interview pace?
* Do explanations feel natural and easy to understand?
* Is the technical accuracy high?
* Does the tone match what I'd say in my own words?
If you answer "yes" to most of these, you've found your model.
Yes. **Auto Select** and **GPT-6 Luna** are fast and capable, and they're a good fit when speed matters more than deep reasoning. Test them first to make sure the quality meets your needs.
We replaced the previous generation of models with newer ones. If your saved model is no longer offered, your sessions use Auto Select until you pick another.
# Click-through mode
Source: https://docs.vervecopilot.com/guides/click-through-mode
Make the copilot window non-interactive to interact with apps behind it
## What is Click-Through Mode?
Click-Through Mode makes the Verve AI copilot window non-interactive, allowing your mouse clicks and keyboard input to pass through to applications behind it. The copilot remains visible on your screen as a reference overlay while you work with other tools underneath.
**Desktop App only** - Click-Through Mode requires the [Desktop App](/features/desktop-app). Not available in Browser or Mobile versions.
***
## How Click-Through Mode Works
When Click-Through Mode is **enabled**:
* The copilot window becomes non-interactive
* Your clicks pass through to applications behind it
* You can type, click, and interact with apps underneath
* The copilot remains visible as a reference overlay
* You can still see copilot suggestions in real-time
When Click-Through Mode is **disabled** (default):
* The copilot window is interactive
* You can click, scroll, and interact with the copilot normally
* The copilot window blocks interaction with apps behind it
***
## How to Enable Click-Through Mode
### Using the Hotkey
Press Cmd + Shift + P on Mac or Ctrl + Shift + P on Windows to toggle Click-Through Mode on/off.
The hotkey works instantly - no need to navigate menus or restart your session.
***
## Best Practices
Use Click-Through Mode together with [Window Transparency](/guides/adjust-window-transparency) to create a subtle, see-through reference overlay that doesn't interfere with your workflow.
Place the copilot window in a corner or side of your screen where it's visible but doesn't cover critical UI elements of your interview platform.
Use Cmd + Shift + P (Mac) or Ctrl + Shift + P (Windows) to quickly switch between interactive and click-through modes based on whether you need to interact with the copilot or your other applications.
Get comfortable with the toggle hotkey before your interview so you can switch modes seamlessly during live sessions.
# Hide app from dock / taskbar
Source: https://docs.vervecopilot.com/guides/hide-app-from-dock
Remove Verve AI from your dock or taskbar for a stealthier desktop presence
## Overview
This feature allows you to hide the Verve AI Desktop App icon from your macOS Dock or Windows Taskbar while the app remains fully functional. The copilot continues running in the background, but without a visible icon in your system's application bar.
**Desktop App only** - This feature requires the [Desktop App](/features/desktop-app). Not available in Browser or Mobile versions.
***
## How It Works
When you **hide the app** from Dock/Taskbar:
* The app icon disappears from your macOS Dock or Windows Taskbar
* The app continues running normally in the background
* All copilot features remain fully functional
* You can still access the app window on your screen
* The app becomes less noticeable to observers
When you **show the app** (default):
* The app icon is visible in your Dock or Taskbar
* You can click the icon to bring the app window to focus
* Standard application visibility and behavior
***
## How to Hide/Show the App
### Using the Hotkey
**Press Cmd + Shift + D (Mac) or Ctrl + Shift + D (Windows)** to toggle the app icon visibility in Dock/Taskbar.
The toggle works instantly - the icon will appear or disappear from your Dock/Taskbar immediately.
***
## Best Practices
Use this together with [Stealth Mode](/features/stealth-mode), [Custom App Icon](/guides/change-desktop-app-icon), and [Click-Through Mode](/guides/click-through-mode) for a comprehensive stealth setup.
Practice hiding and showing the app icon using **Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + D** so you're comfortable with the toggle during live sessions.
Remember that pressing **Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + D** again will restore the icon to your Dock/Taskbar if you need to access app settings or menus.
Since the Dock/Taskbar icon is hidden, rely on [window management hotkeys](/features/desktop-app#window-management) like **Cmd+H** to hide/show the app window itself.
***
## Important Notes
When the app is hidden from Dock/Taskbar, you won't be able to click the icon to access menus or bring the window to focus. Use hotkeys for window management instead.
Hiding the app icon doesn't close or minimize the app - it only removes the icon from your Dock/Taskbar. The copilot window and all features remain active.
***
## Hide from Dock vs. Stealth Mode
Both features help with discretion, but they work differently:
| Feature | Purpose | Hotkey | What it hides |
| - | - | - | - |
| **Hide from Dock/Taskbar** | Remove app icon from system bar | Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + D | Dock/Taskbar icon only |
| **[Stealth Mode](/features/stealth-mode)** | Invisible during screen sharing | Settings toggle | Copilot window from screen share |
**Pro tip:** Use both together for maximum stealth - hide the Dock/Taskbar icon AND enable Stealth Mode so neither the icon nor the copilot window appear during screen sharing.
***

# Adjust pause interval
Source: https://docs.vervecopilot.com/guides/pause-interval
Optimize question detection for different interviewer speaking styles
## What is Pause Interval?
Pause Interval is the minimum length of silence (in seconds) that Verve AI uses to separate one question from the next during interviews. This feature helps the copilot accurately detect when an interviewer has finished asking a question and when to provide you with a response.
**How it works:**
* If silence is **longer** than the pause interval → Verve AI treats it as two separate questions
* If silence is **shorter** than the pause interval → Verve AI groups it as one continuous question
**Access:** Click the settings gear icon on the [copilot launch page](https://www.app.vervecopilot.com/copilot), then select the **Audio Transcription** tab (second tab).
***
## Pause Interval Options
Verve AI offers three pause interval settings in the Audio Transcription tab:
### Short Interval (1-2 seconds)
**Best for:**
* Fast-paced interviews with rapid-fire questions
* Interviewers who speak quickly with minimal pauses
* Situations where you want immediate copilot responses
**Behavior:**
* Breaks transcription into smaller chunks
* Provides more frequent copilot responses
* Treats brief pauses as question separators
**Example:** Interviewer says "Tell me about your project... \[1.5-second pause] ...what was your role?"
→ Copilot treats this as **two separate questions**
### Balanced Interval (3-4 seconds)
**Best for:**
* Standard interview pacing
* Interviewers with moderate speaking speed
* General-purpose interviews when you're unsure of speaking style
**Behavior:**
* Moderate transcription block size
* Balanced response frequency
* Accommodates natural thinking pauses without breaking questions
**Example:** Interviewer says "Describe your approach... \[3-second pause] ...and the outcome?"
→ Copilot may treat this as **one or two questions** depending on context
### Long Interval (5+ seconds)
**Best for:**
* Interviewers who pause frequently mid-question
* AI-powered interviews (like Mercor) with long, complex questions
* Situations where interviewers think aloud before finishing their question
**Behavior:**
* Longer transcription blocks
* Waits longer for interviewer to finish speaking
* Less frequent but more complete copilot responses
**Example:** Interviewer says "Tell me about a time... \[4-second pause] ...when you faced a challenge... \[3-second pause] ...and how you overcame it?"
→ Copilot treats this as **one complete question**
***
## How It Works in Practice
### Example 1: Short Pause Interval (2 seconds)
**Interviewer:** "Tell me about your last project… \[3-second pause] …and what role did you play?"
**Result:** Verve AI splits this into **two questions:**
1. "Tell me about your last project."
2. "What role did you play?"
**Copilot behavior:** Provides a response after the first question, then another after the second.
### Example 2: Long Pause Interval (5 seconds)
**Interviewer:** "Tell me about your last project… \[3-second pause] …and what role did you play?"
**Result:** Verve AI treats this as **one complete question:** "Tell me about your last project and what role did you play?"
**Copilot behavior:** Waits for the entire question to finish, then provides a comprehensive response covering both parts.
***
## Use Case: Mercor AI Interviews
Mercor's AI interviewer tends to ask long, complex questions with pauses in between that should be considered as a **single question to answer**.
**Recommended setting:** **Long Interval**
**Why?**
* AI interviewers often pause while generating the next part of their question
* These pauses are NOT question separators—they're part of the same question
* Using a long interval ensures Verve AI waits for the complete question before responding
**Without long interval:**
You might get a response after "Tell me about your experience..." when the AI is still formulating "...with machine learning in production environments."
**With long interval:**
Copilot waits for the full question, then provides a complete, relevant response.
***
## Troubleshooting
**Solution:** Switch to a longer pause interval. The copilot is treating pauses as question breaks when they're actually mid-question thinking time.
**Solution:** Switch to a shorter pause interval. The interviewer likely has a faster speaking pace with clear question boundaries.
**Solution:** Use a shorter pause interval. The interviewer pauses long enough between questions, and you want them treated separately.
**Solution:** Use a longer pause interval. The interviewer is pausing mid-question, and you want the complete question before getting a response.
# Hide screen sharing notifications
Source: https://docs.vervecopilot.com/guides/screen-sharing-notifications
Learn how to handle Chrome screen-sharing notifications during your interview
When using Verve AI in the Chrome browser, you may notice a notification indicating that a tab is being shared. This is a standard security feature of Chrome, designed to enhance transparency by informing users when screen sharing is active.
## What You Need to Know
**Notification Visibility**: This notification is only visible to you and will not be seen by the interviewer or anyone else on the call.
**No Impact on Interview**: The notification does not affect your screen sharing. The interviewer will only see the content of the tab you have specifically chosen to share.

# Stay discreet during screen sharing
Source: https://docs.vervecopilot.com/guides/stay-discreet-screen-sharing
Learn how to discreetly use Verve AI during interviews when screen sharing is required
Using Verve AI during an interview can give you the competitive edge you need, but it's important to stay discreet, especially when screen sharing is necessary. Here's how to do it smoothly while minimizing visibility to your interviewer.
***
## 1. Share a Specific Tab Instead of the Full Screen
When screen sharing is required, always opt to share a specific browser tab rather than your entire screen. This ensures that Verve AI and any other background applications remain hidden from the interviewer.
### How to Share a Specific Tab on Popular Platforms
**Zoom:** Select "Share Screen," then choose the individual browser tab you want to share.
**Google Meet:** Click "Present," then select "A Tab" and pick the one you want to display.
**Microsoft Teams:** Use the "Share" button and choose "Window" or the specific tab.
This method keeps Verve AI safely out of sight while still allowing you to showcase what's necessary for the interview.
***
## 2. Use Two Monitors for Full-Screen Sharing
If your interview absolutely requires full-screen sharing, consider using a dual-monitor setup. Here's how it works:
Keep Verve AI running on your secondary monitor while sharing only your primary monitor.
This way, you have discreet access to the copilot's responses without them being visible to your interviewer.
***
## 3. Use Your Phone as a Backup Option
If a second monitor isn't available, you can access Verve AI on your phone. While this allows you to keep Verve AI completely off your shared screen, be aware that this method may slightly reduce your ability to multitask efficiently.
For tips on maximizing the effectiveness of phone-based Interview Copilot access, check out our [Mobile Experience guide](/features/mobile-experience).
***
## 4. Use Desktop App with Stealth Mode (Recommended)
For the best discreet experience, we highly recommend using our [Desktop App](/features/desktop-app) with **Stealth Mode** enabled. This feature keeps Verve AI completely invisible to your interviewer even when sharing your entire screen.

# Test audio before interview
Source: https://docs.vervecopilot.com/guides/test-audio
Check your audio setup from the launcher before starting a real Verve AI copilot session
## Overview
The **Test Audio** tab helps you confirm that your audio setup is working before you start a real interview session. Use it from the copilot launcher to verify that Verve AI can detect the audio input you expect.
Testing audio before launch helps you catch permission, device, or routing issues early so you do not lose time during the actual interview.
***
## How to Test Audio
Go to [Interview Copilot](https://www.app.vervecopilot.com/copilot) and open the launcher.
Click **Settings** in the launcher before starting your session.
Open the **Test Audio** tab in the settings panel.
Speak into your microphone or play sample meeting audio to confirm Verve AI is receiving sound.
Make sure the test shows the expected input activity before you launch the real session.
***
## Troubleshooting
Check your input device, confirm microphone or system audio permissions are granted, and retry the test. If needed, review [Audio Permissions](/guides/audio-permissions).
Switch to the correct microphone, headset, or meeting output device in your system settings, then run the test again before launching.
Re-open launcher settings and confirm the same device setup is still selected. If your meeting platform changed devices after launch, restart the launcher and test again.
Review [Share Audio](/guides/share-audio) for platform-specific guidance on getting interview sound into Verve AI.
# Turn on/off auto-scroll
Source: https://docs.vervecopilot.com/guides/turn-off-auto-scroll
Toggle automatic scrolling on or off during your interview
## What is Auto-Scroll?
Auto-Scroll automatically moves the chat to keep the latest AI suggestions in view. You can turn this feature on or off at any time depending on your preference—whether you want automatic updates or manual control over what stays visible during your interview.
***
## How to Toggle Auto-Scroll
1. **Click Settings** in the Verve AI interface (gear icon, usually top-right)
2. **Find "Auto Scroll"** in the settings menu
3. **Click the toggle switch:**
* **Off** to disable automatic scrolling and control manually
* **On** to enable automatic scrolling to latest responses
4. **Close Settings** - Your preference is saved automatically
The change takes effect immediately - no restart needed.
If you can't locate the Settings button:
* Check if you're in an active copilot session
* **Browser users:** Try refreshing the page
* **Desktop app users:** Restart the application
* Ensure you're using the latest version of Verve AI
***
## Best Practices
**Turn Auto-Scroll OFF when:**
* You need to reference multiple suggestions at once
* You're comparing different response approaches
* You want to read thoroughly without being interrupted
* You're copying key points from earlier in the conversation
**Keep Auto-Scroll ON when:**
* You want immediate visibility of new responses
* You're following along in real-time
* You prefer not to manually scroll during the interview
* You want a hands-free experience
